A Happier Me!

I still remember the day when I stepped into my career with lot of ambitions and passion! I was full of energy and was very eager to take up challenging projects, new roles and I did excel in all that I took up too. I was happy with what all that I did.

As years passed, my family responsibilities increased, and I was finding it difficult to strike a balance between personal and official life. Out of fear that I might not be able to manage things at home, I started compromising on my hobbies first and then my career. I was afraid to be part of anything challenging and was consciously giving up many good opportunities.

It was at this point, I read a quote on Fear by Khalil Gibran. It meant ‘one should take risks to let the fear go’ and the quotation changed my total perspective of the situation. I realized me compromising on a lot of things would just worsen the situation and would never be a solution. I started discussing this with my peers and friends on how they manage work and personal life. Once I realized that I am not alone in this, my fear went away, and my mind became clearer. I improved on my time management skills, delegated work wherever possible, ensured that I spent the me-time I really deserved, and eventually got back to my own self!

Fear was the factor that was stopping me from trying out many things. I gave multiple reasons to justify the fear I had. Once I overcame that and started doing things I really loved doing, I became a happier person which reflected on my professional and personal fronts too! Thanks to Khalil Gibran and the friend who shared this wonderful quote!
